Default Engine Identification?

How can I tell what engine i have in my lude.

I just bought it, and this is all I know:

92 Honda Prelude SiR
DOHC
Think its a 2.0 (not sure)
Its not vtech (atleast it doesnt say it is on the valve cover or body)

No information tags in the engine compartment, block says something like PA12 on the side. Oh, and its Rear Steer, if that helps.

Im thinking about replacing the engine since it has such high mileage (150k) - But if it is a better motor then ill tear it apart and build it racing spec, though im worried that the high mileage will have a negative effect on the performance and life of the engine. It is in really good shape, the only thing that looks like it might need replacing in the future are the metal lines coming from the master and/or slave cylinder, as they are starting to corrode (though if i pull the engine i might just sand em down and paint them instead of replacing).

Thanks much.

f22 or h23, and its not a siR. 2.2 non vtec, or a h23 2.3 non vtec.

Its not an siR? I just read a reply on another thread of mine where someone says with 4 wheel steer it has to be a h23.

If i swapped it for a h22 jdm engine how difficult would it be to get parts for the motor? I would want to get forged pistons and sleeves and some other small things, would this be more difficult or pricey with a jdm engine?

SiR? WHere the hell do you live? There is not such thing as a prelude SiR in NorthAmerica

Anyway the engine block code is to the left of the header on the block below the rubber flywheel/timing plug

sombody probably put an Si-r badge on the back to give them
an extra 25 horses
what's the 6 digit of the vin?
on the block to the right if the tranny case you will see an
engine code stamped on it like H23A1 or something of that nature.
150k is not really that many miles, mine is pushing 215k.
Do a compression test on it and see what kind of shape the engine is in.

if it's a 92 it can't be a 2.0... it's definitely not VTEC, and how could it be rear wheel steering?
