Default Bando T/belt and balance belts

I've always used OEM but found that these brands are a lot cheaper. How good are they? Would they last as long as OEM? I sure wouldn't want to be driving and having my t/belt go out on me.

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

I would prefer OEM too and I'm just considering if it'll be worth the savings of the bando brand. I have never used it no do I know anyone who has used it so I'm unsure if the savings will lead to future troubles.

Just as long as you get a quality belt you should be ok.

For some reason I don't like using other parts just to save a little

Honda, of course, buys its belts, etc, from outside sources, But I do not know who their supplier is - maybe it is Gates for all I know or Bando..

I would no even go to any Honda dealer (or a VW dealer) to even scratch my ***, much less pay their inflated prices.

I'm a lousy record keeper, I have bought belts from suppliers, but do not know the price nor the brand.
But I do know that lousy dealers are a problem for probably all car makers. There are some good dealers out there, somewhere..
The two in SE PA try, are incompetent, and overcharge grossly. The are Apple of York and Bobby Rahal of Mechanicsburg..
But I think the Mercedes dealer is OK, I think..
My daughter likes the Volvo dealer in York..

When it comes to T-belt, DON"T GO CHEAP! Breaking a T-belt will break your wallet also

Honda uses Gates belts from the factory. Hell Gates designed the timing belt system on the 6th gen. accord 4cyl's. Remember the whole balancer shaft oil seal problem the 94-97 accord had. Any way the Gates belts you buy at Napa and the ones that are from a dealer are completly different. The ones from Napa are mas produced and mad to "Napa spec" no manufacture. The Honda timing belt is designed for Honda and Honda only. I thas more kevlar in it and is saturated more with the resons that are used to harden the belt.
On a side note if this isn't good enough for ya, my dad works for Gates Rubber company, (18 years and going) there biggest account is Napa not the dealers. So if he tells me to put a factory belt on because its stronger then the Napa I have every reson to believe him. Gates is also the worlds larges maker and supplier of belts and hoses. O' FYI a Bando belt is made by Gates and sold under a different name.
