Default New S2000 Recall!

I work for a Honda Dealer and we just got a new memo for S2000 Recall affecting I beleive the first 7,000 S2000's in the US. You should be receiving something on it.

But if you own a 2000 or 2001 s2000 and noticed your TAILLIGHTS fading to pink? well your getting NEW ONES!

I noticed that on a NFR 00' I was going to buy but the tail-lights and a few scratches in the paint turned me away. That's cool that honda is replacing the pink ones. Did they switch manufacturers after 7000 or something? I think I am 7087, mine are still nice and red. Hopefully they will stay that way.

It's actually 00001-007115, which includes me.

Here's the actual document.

I highly doubt it. Dealerships don't like the idea of retrofitting any none model-year part. Plus they probably already have plenty of 00-03's ready to ship out.

I read about that on S2ki. From what I hear they are denying to replace bubbling headlights because "it doesn't affect function."

IF you bought the car used, can you still benefit from a recall?

Yes, if you read the pdf I posted you will read that it is declared as unsafe if you have these defective tail lenses. Anything unsafe, as with most recalls, is required to be fixed by the dealership no matter how you got your car. Supposedly everyone that owns an 00 s2k in that VIN range will be getting a letter.

if your tails fade, they'll replace them, any decent honda dealer would do that. But they can't "pre-emptively" replace them.
