Default Dear AbbeyBurned out tranny... Need Advice.

To make a long story short

I burned out fith and fourth gear on a long distance trip. I had to leave my car at a friends house. I currently have a jdm d15, but have always wanted to swap in a gsr motor. I really don't have the money to buy the gsr, but I can get it... so. With that being said should I buy a tranny and try to get it down south to my car and install it myself or try and buy a motor and get a friend to go down and perform the swap with me.

The delimma with doing the installs my self is location. I would have to do these jobs in an apartment complex parking lot. Should I pay someone to do this install down there or ship the car back home and do it myself at the crib?

that sounds like a good idea, but should I go down there and install it myself or pay for someone to install it?

Do what YOU want.

We don't know your financial situation..

go calculate some **** up and figure out what you can do/get.

It never fails... there is always one... at least one individual who tries to make it seem as though a person asking for opinions is a mindless follower..

You don't need to know my financial situation to have an opinion... or an idea of what you might do in the proposed circumstances. It's a simple question and if you have no opinion or ideas, just don't post. Obviously you must not, so let it be.

I've taken time to consider my options and I am asking the question to possibly obtain more...

I wish you posted more.

Did you think about renting a trailor or maybe one of those deals that
hooks the two wheels up and you just pul the back two?

I think it would be a little risky doing it yourself out of town. There are
way to many things that could go wrong and you would be up the ol' ****
creek with one less paddle.

yeah pulling the tranny out in the parking lot is not pretty, it could be done but I wonder what people will have to say. You could just pay someone to do it, it's basicly a clutch change.

Elwood... what up homie?

You guys are right about the risk in doing it in a parking lot, that was one of my concerns... what if something went wrong? If I let a shop do it... in NC how much am I looking at for labor?

Not sure about nc, but if a real shop does it, my guess is a pretty penny.

I would seriously look at renting a flatbed trailor. When my brother got
his mini it was way cheaper in nevada and he lived in california. He rented
a flatbed trailor, and it was under 100$.
