Default Ques. for CarSound cat users?

I have a Carsound Cat on my ITR that has been working fine for the summer. About 1 month ago I got a CEL for "Catalist Deteroration". No biggie, Cleared the code and the car was fine for another month, Maybe 500 miles. Code is now coming up again and as soon as I reset it the light comes back on within the next 15-30 miles. Anyone else with problems. Is this also similar to what happens with the godspeed test pipe???

Thanks Mattj

Same thing happened to me. About 3 days after installing mine I got the same code. I reset the ecu a few times but it kept coming on after a couple of days. I got fed up of seeing the light so I put my stock cat back on. I'll re-install it after I change my ecu. Apparently the car does not go into limp mode because of this so it's not that big of a deal.

Did you get yours from Payn-Tech? They told me there was someone with a GSR and the same codes.

2K1, how can you tell if you car is in limp mode? You will have trouble accelerating? What ECU are you going to get?

Never happened to mine, I've had it installed for about 2 months now. Try calling Carsound and see what they say

Hey Drop,

I have the same problem, except I have a 2.5" Catco hi flow cat hooked up to a DC JDM 4-1 header. Went 3 months and everything was fine, then all of a sudden last week CEL 67 lit up. Reset but still comes on a couple days later.

I'm gonna get my car dynoed soon to make sure the CEL 67 isn't affecting performance.

Trust me, you'll know when you are in "limp mode" 'cause you will feel like you got an extra 1000 lbs in the car. I've been in an R w/supercharger & we Limped home for 2 hrs from the dyno in the middle of the night! lol

BudMan - who hasn't had to do that in his baby! call CarSound & see if they have changed their cat mixture (maybe they'll replace).

Nope I haven't experienced this with mine but, my top heat shield came loose so I removed it.

I have heard however something about the catylist coming loose and even rattling around inside the 9004 cat but, thought that that was for the older units. The older ones from the last batch of about a year ago had some defective ones.

Mine works fine, sorry for your misfortune.

Where did you purchase it from?

I know after dealing with Mike "TypeRmsm" @ IPS racing about the defective ones and also know if it was from him that he'd replace it. Contact him if you have any questions or problems. He's great for information and has great customer service too.

Good luck,

A.
