Walkie Talkies that 12 people can communicate with?
Me and my friends are looking to get one for everyone in the group. We need a brand that lets 12 people communicate with each other without other people listening. Can someone recommend any brands? A few mile radius would be nice.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Since no one really answered your question...I'll take a stab.
I too wanted a better way to communicate with memebers of my
family/group when we went out to shop /amusement parks etc. My
solution was the motorolla Talk-about systems. Yes we all have phones
but have you ever tried to contact peeps and get voicemail because of a
dead zone,or they could not get to it in time or just couldnt hear or feel it
vibrate because they were occupied? This system works great...I have a total
of 8 units...all reside in diff parts of the country. When we travel on holidays
we have anywhere from 4 - 8 units readily available. It works great for us.
Hope this helps.

Still doesn't solve his problem of no one listening in. With publically available products I don't know any that will do this. You can each have your own seperate channel but it wont prevent someone from switching to the base chanel and listening to everyones conversation. You would have to buy expensive private walkie-talkies. Or modify the ones you have.

because with cell phones you have to call the person. with teh radios you can press the button, speak and the whole group hears it. its a lot easier in my opinion.

You won't be able to find a publicly over the counter walkie-talkie no one can listen in on. Most have 22 or so channels, with 34 sub-bands of that one. You can adjust the sub-bands so only other people on that channel and sub-band can hear and talk back to you. The motorola T6400 also includes 3 different "encryption modes", but they just distort your voice pretty good and make you sound like an alien talking junk. It's not hard to figure out which 1 or the 4 "encryption" options you're using (off, 1,2,3). Also, the T6400 has a scanning mode which will flip to every channel from 1 to 22 (or whichever you program) and will pick up anyone using that channel (even a sub-band), though to actually talk to them you have to set yours to that channel + sub-band (unless you hit talk within 3 seconds of them quitting talking, in which case the T6400 talks automatically on that channel and sub-band). Again, that shows you can't really be sure no one is listening in.
The only other option is for all of you to get radio lisences and get radios with more of a private band. This is more expensive for both the lisences and for the equipment.
