Default June 21, 89 Teg gets a B16 transplant!

Hey guys, some of you might already know about the little surgery my baby is undergoing, but I just wanted to share with you the experiences of this build and also help give anyone some pointers on what to/what not to do. The project has started today June 21, 2004. I started today with a little strip-down of the engine bay. The engine is comin tomorrow while the mounts and other little parts are coming sometime this week, so i'll be tearing everything down while waiting for the little extra parts. There will be a dyno at the end for everyone to see just how well (or how poor ) this project turns out. I'll keep you guys posted throughout the week. Cross your fingers

EDIT: SEE THE FULL PIC SERIES AT CARDOMAIN HERE

Wait! Before you stick the engine in you HAVE to take a picture of yourself standing in the now empty engine bay!

haha per special request, i'll do that just for you , the tranny is being supported by a jack and the engine is supported by a hoist right now so it should be out within the hour

man, hasport really fucked me over big time, but as always hmotorsonline came through. Hasport told Steve (the guy helping me, super nice guy!!) at hmotorsonline that they are never going to make the 86-89 integra B-series swap mounts EVER AGAIN and if i wanted to they would make some in about 5 weeks special order.... uh uh, ain't happenin. So Steve calls up another place to see if they'll make them, that place started bullshitting poor Steve so he said **** em. Well, the next day he finds out that Hasport (which is really sucking by now ) won't make the shift linkage either!! So he calls me up telling me that i won't have a shift linkage and i'll need to use the sotck B16 and make it work, not too hard.. BUT since I had told steve I NEED my motor running by next week Steve got Hasport on the phone and basically told them "listen, this kid needs to have this motor back in his car within the week and I told him he would have his mounts by this week. Now you know we're your best customer, so get your *** in gear and make those mounts and I want them OVERNIGHTED and to get there by friday, capeesh?" Here it is Friday, and i've got me some mounts! If you ever order from hmotorsonline which i highly recommend, ask for Steve, he'll suck your toe and anyone else's he needs to to get the job done . So anyways, i've got the mounts halfway in and i forgot to take pics (doh!) so this post will be edited in a few with some added pics. Wish me luck with these A-Hole Hasport guys, they're supposed to be sending axles too

nice. At least when you got your b16 your truck had a liftgate. I had to call back up and get a bunch of friends last minute to lower it off the back of the truck.

liftgates

yeah, look at my location info, if i set out to transplant a B16 into a gen1 then you better believe i will whether i have to weld my own axles together or not, lol. My mom tried to convince me not to do it after getting the engine... ok there's a $1600 engine sitting in my garage, sending it back shouldn't even be considered almost kind of thought about in a backwoods sorta ***** nilly way. BUT...

Biiiiiig miscommunication amongst me, Steve, and Hasport. The motor mounts were not discontinued, only backordered.. for about 5 weeks. Hasport got a nasty little message from with my phone number and left a voice mail for me today stating that i should have received my motor mounts today (which i did) and not only that, they told me that the axles and the shift linkage were shipped 3-day select on thursday and should be here tuesday!! So..
for Steve laying the smackdown
for Hasport getting their **** in line!
Hasport now has my seal of approval:

Here's my rear mount just for proof that it's goin in baby!

more to come...

the wiring isn't done yet . I'm takin it out again today so i can reroute some things and finish the wiring, it's not too bad, and hasport makes a subharness for the B16 into a g1, so everything should go relatively smooth, obd0 to obd0 . even if you were to do the vtec wiring pinouts it still wouldn't be hard i took a look at it, it's basically just fill the empty ECU plugs with wires, all the vtec spots are empty.

alrighty, i ran into a little problem figuring out how to plug up the dizzy, the b16 has 7 wires and the d16 has 5 wires. To anyone that's trying this swap the two extra wires (BLU/YEL and BLU/GRN) are the cylinder sensors, pinout spots C01 and C02.

Woke up this morning at 10am took the enigne back out to finish up the bay work. I also recieved a nice package today, subharness and axles, drool drool. . On top of that i needed some tools and **** so i went to harbor freight and picked up an air cutter, 3 magnetic trays ( i lose **** too easily), and a compression test kit. Also went to autozone to pick up hoses.. they had **** as usual but i did go ahead and pick up the bosch platinum +4 plugs. I know everyone says NGK Copper, but I've always ran bosch, i just like them and they're a lot cheaper. Just got done modifying the battery tray to fit, and i'll be workin on gettin the engine back in and wired tonight.
