Default Crimestopper Alarm System

I was just wondering what setups for alarm systems most Ep owners have. I tried the search and couldn't find the exact thing I needed(Plus I don't think the "Search" function is working properly...I typed in Car Alarms,Alarm Systems, etc...)Oh yeah I posted this on ephatch and no luck as of yet.

I was looking into the CrimeStopper CS2004DC Series II with the LCD Remote and also Promiximity Sensors too. I got a price quote of $440 installed.
Plus I will probably add an AutoLock.

As I read in other posts it all matters on the install(Camoflauging the wires,Back Up Batteries, etc.)

Gotta protect my ride and of course the soon to be turbo....Hehe.

Let me know your thoughts or recommendations.......Greatly appreciated!!!

I don't know how much love you'll get for Crimestopper products on HT, but I love them. Most here will recommend Viper or Clifford, which are good alarms, but I have had three Crimestopper alarms (about to purchase a 4th for the new car) and have loved them all. Great price, very reliable, lots of add on options available, and clear and precise directions for installing.

I think what you might be looking at then is actually the CS-2004TW2. That is Crimestoppers number for the CS-2004DC with the LCD remote.

I couldn't tell you if $440 installed is good or not, I install all my own alarms. I do know that the alarm and proximity sensor can be had for less than $140, so you are looking at about $300 for installation. If the shop is going to do a good job, and you trust them, it doesn't sound too bad.

I take it you have a 5-speed, so no remote start is needed, which is fine as the 2004TW2 doesn't come equipped.

Another thing you will need to consider is if you have the factory Honda alarm/keyless entry, you will need an additional transponder. Is that included in the $440 price?

You can check out more Crimstopper stuff at http://www.Crimestopper.com
And no, I don't work for them

Why is that?

Most aftermarket alarms need an "adapter" of sorts to work with factory alarms. Either to disable the factory alarm all together or to work in conjuction with it. That way he wont have to carry two remotes around. One for his aftermarket alarm and one for his factory alarm/keyless entry.

Yeah...Thats good that I finally got some input from someone. Yes....I have a 2003 Civic Si and soon to be turbo. So I want to protect my ride

I checked out the website before, I just wanted some opinions on the CrimeStopper alarm. I iniatially wanted the Clifford(But.....Clifford was bought by DEI and no longer exists, I think the company that bought them basically took what they wanted and dumped the rest.)

The shop that will be doing the install is very reputable and are very knowledgable. So if you have any more thoughts about the system let me know. Because I'm going with the CS2004TW2 with promiximity sensors for $440 installed which I believe is a decent price. But I will make sure that I reiterate about the "camoflauging" of wires, and other parts as I said before.

But once again thanks!

Well, let me start by saying "good for you" for wanting to protect your ride. I've seen too many people dump all sorts of money in to a car and then let the factory (or no) alarm protect it.

You are on the right track with the install, it sounds like you trust the shop and that is a big plus. Some of the questions you might want to ask the installer are:

-Does he plan to solder all the connections?
This is the only way to go when installing an alarm. Shops will often save time (and money) by using butt connectors or even splice T's. These type of connectors have there place, but your alarm is not one of them. In just about every alarm I've had to troubleshoot for a problem, a faulty connector was to blame. For the price you are paying, the connections should be soldered.

-Will he integrate the look of the wires to look as stock as possible?
This includes using loom, electrical tape, proper routing, etc. to blend the wiring in. If you look under the dash when he is done, it shouldn't scream "alarm".

-Will he discuss placement of valet switch and/or LED before installation?
I feel a lot of people over look this, and these two usually wind up being installed somewhere where the owner doesn't like. Discuss options with the installer and go from there. The valet switch should be easily accessible, but not out in the open. Please don't have it mounted on the drivers kick panel like everyone else does. The LED should be visible from most vantage points outside the car.

-Once the alarm is installed, will he take the time to explain its functions and how to use the remotes?
This is also helpful with a new alarm, and make sure you get the owners manual from him, it will also explain things.

-Does he offer a warranty on the install and for how long?
You want to make sure he will stand behind his work.

Those are some of the more important things I can think of and apply to any alarm and any installer.

I do have another bit of advice about alarm brands though. I don't see any info on the website, but you need to see if Crimestopper has a theft protection warranty. These are usually a set dollar amount that will pay you, or at least your insurance deductible if the car is stolen. I never check for this as they are only good if installed by an authorized installer, which I am not. If this feature is something you would want, and Crimestopper doesn't offer it, you may want to check another brand. Although if you run the standard $500 deductible, it may not matter much to you.

I hope this info helps, LMK if you have an more specific questions.

Thanks again! I'll be sure to ask the installer all of the above questions you posted.
