I recently picked up 15 jdm honda oem oil filters made by nippon. I plan to cut one open and examine to compare to other honda filters. BTW, the s200 filter is identical to the large hamp filter.

i heard that the honda oem ones, prevent from having a dry spot on start up. It holds the oil from draining back down or something

All oil filters have this feature. It is a valve in the oil filter called the anti-drainback valve (ADBV) You can see it at the bottom of the filter when you look in it.

Most people that notice a change in oil pressure with a different filter fail to factor in the fresh oil in the pan has not had any viscosity breakdown yet. I would be surprised if the oil pressure was still 5-8 psi higher at the end of the oil's service life.

Not all filters have an anti-drainback valve, but all of the premium ones do. You also should look for a silicone valve because they tend to seal better.

I believe fram oil filters do NOT have the adbv. At least I know about 2 years ago they didn't! So, NO, not all oil filters have this feature
