1993 Honda Civic Dx Hatch Rear SPeakerS???!?!?
I have a 93 dx hatch, it seems I only have front speakers for my car, what do all you other hatch owners do for rears, do you put them in the side panels (Si style) or do you simply not put any rears in, please help.

I bought a cargo cover (basically the guy gave it to me) and it came with 6" just drilled in. It works fine, but looks ghetto-fab-tabulous, so I woudln't suggest it. Get the si panels...or better yet, save the $$ and put it to something that makes the car actually go faster! ^_^
Well if you can get ahold of the panels that have the slits but no brackets ppl use zip ties to zip tie the speaker in you can also find the brackets on ebay every once in a while either the usdm ones or pick up a pair of gathers jdm ones. But yeah alot of ppl use there cargo covers and cut some holes in that.
huh that's wierd my 94 vx has rear speakers in that little side panel, i just put new ones in and fyi i think 6 and a half inch are the largest that will fit,w/o mod, cause mine bolted up perfect with no extra room or mod.
good luck with it
good luck with it

Are there wires already there in CX and DXs for the rear speakers or do you have to run new ones from the head unit back?
I have heard both, but never had the time to check on my own car.
Also there is a thread in the civic forum somewhere, where a guy made the rear speaker brackets himself for a couple bucks.

Rear speakers were a factory option.
Not all 92-95 si hatchbacks came with speakers.
I'm not 100% sure but i think all hatches are wired up for rear speakers you can just buy the option from the dealership.

Is it possible to get some 6x9's in the side panels with modification? My CX didn't come with rear speakers, so I'm assuming there are no brackets. I don't have a cargo cover and don't really want one, so that method is out. Thanks in advance.

I see no rear speakers in my '93 Si. But I do see brackets. Hmmm. Maybe they were stolen at the dealership. The cheap bastards.

I have a 92 SI hb and i have no door speakers, but i have 6 1/2'' MB quart components in the back, and 6x9'' Infinity reftence in the cargo cover. They are all amped by a Kicker 70x4 amp. They are ungodly loud.

maybe the previous owner or someone at the dealership may have swapped it.

As far I know all Civics did come pre-wired. You just have to find it. When I removed the rear side panels mine were taped and clipped to the body of the car, basically where the side and floor met. I don't think I would have gotten to them with out taking the side panel off.

There is part of the bracket there. I believe all Civic hatches came with the vertical bracket cause thats where one of the mounting screws are located for the rear side panels. I know my hatch is like this and assume other are too. There is room in there to put a 6x9 but you would have to find a way to mount it.

I agree. There is a lot of room back there. With a little creativity you could probably mount any size speaker in there
