Default Distributors- how do you identify them?

Hey all,

how do you tell if you have a Vtec distributor versus a non-Vtec? I got a used 95 Vtec distributor from a guy and I didn't get any spark. I took the distributor off and borrowed my cousins and the housings look the same but the ICM/Ignitor were different.

The only different between a non-vtec and a vtec Distributor is the base. The internals are the same.
