Default Quietest intake

Well I've heard a few intakes in the past couple of day's and lots of them vary alot in terms of loudness.

I was just wondering if anyone knew what the quietest intake/filter combo is?

Why the heck would you want a loud intake?? I laugh at the ricers who rev up w/ loud intakes and stock exhaust, or sometimes the intake is even louder than an aftermarket exhaust.

Any metal intake tube will be loud, and the shorter it is, the louder it is also.

But yeah loud intakes sound retarded IMHO.

I'll agree. I don't even notice my Icebox unless I'm at higher RPM's. Oh, btw, save your money and use your OEM intake arm instead of buying the Comptech SRI.

Comptech is pretty quiet as long as you use the Icebox. I have an A'PEXi Power Filter which sounds deep on normal driving but once past 4500 it starts to really get loud.

J's racing /Fake J's intake is by far the loudest intake i have ever heard. Quietest would be a OEM ITR airbox i guess.

Doesn't loudness of an intake also have to do with where it's positioned and whether or not it's shielded? I had an AEM cold air intake on my last DA and it was very loud due to being located right by the wheelwell, and not being housed......everyone heard it, but it was still a very good intake.
If you remove the cover to your stock intake, it's going to sound louder than stock.
But unless you get ITBs or something like that, you shouldn't concern yourself with the loudness or silence of your intake.....if you are upgrading, you're concern should be best performing and filtering intake system cause even the loudest intake system isn't that loud when compared to an exhaust system. Don't live your "life a quatermile at a time " and you won't have to worry about it being loud unless you really hit it.
That said......the Comptech Icebox is real nice, and I'd buy one if I could pick one up used and cheap

yes, but when you take the housing off the filter element, it's louder then when you have it on

Stock airbox, all closed up, but no resonator is VERY loud. I took off my resonator and replaced it w/ just a tube that draws air behind the corner lens (a la Comptech Icebox), and just the tube by itself makes it MUCH quieter than having just an open hole in the bottom of the airbox, even w/ the airbox lid in place.

personally i like the sound of loud intakes and quiet exhaust, something i've been toying around with is cuting a 3 inch hole in the fire wall and running a 3 inch rubber hose from the intake manifold into the passenger side behind the dash, no filter because its inside the car no dirt or water gettin in, and it would be a true cold air intake especially if you keep the a/c,

hahahaha.... put some dry ice in ur damn intake box.. or buy a mini refrigerator for ur trunk, throw it on ur passanger floor, cut a hole in the door, hook up a sewer flex hose to it, right up to ur intake, and call it a day
