Im trying to get my airconditioning to work and each line (high and low side) has the same pressure on it. What could be wrong? Thanks

low = 25-40 psi (depends on the car)
High = 190-250 psi (depends on the car)

 

is it like that when you have car runing and ac on? If so your comp is dead

 

If it is high on both sides I would think you have a clog somewhere. High I see around 150 usually, low like 30. You probably have the clog somewhere between the evaporator and the low side port.

 

thanks guys for your help. How would I go about locating the clog and removing it? I dont think the compressor is dead.

 

flush thru the condensor an lines(not compressor). and pull a vac and put in some more freon replace orifice

Uh.. there is no OT on a Honda they use TXV's.

and use freon? he doesnt have R12.. he most likley has R134A.. so call it refegerant ok.
what is the pressures? you need to be specific.

tell me what PSI and guess the temperature outside.

OH and BTW if you have equal pressures on both sides.. well its NOT a clog.. a clog will create a pressure difference so if your compressor is working(which I think it doesnt because equal pressures = not working at all or the TVX is not doing its job) then the system will have an accessive high on the high side or a very low on the low side.

 

sorry bout that i am used to chevy with the ot. is the tvx like an expansion valve?

yes a TXV is a Thermal Expansion Valve..

 

low and high side are about 100psi temp is 85 to 90 deg F.

ok if your outside temp is 90 and your getting 100PSI.. your compressor is not working.. verify that your compressor is actually turning on.

get a friend to go inside the car and turn it on.. then turn the fan on then press the AC button.. do you see the compressor clutch working? then check the pressures at that moment..if your compressor is working the high side will go up and the low will go down.

 

okay thanks, I think Im going to check the wiring as well. So we can rule out a clog at least for now until I verify the compressor is not running.

 

I found out that there is no current getting to the speed sensor on the compressor. If I bypassed this sensor to test the compressor would that screw the compressor up?

 

I didnt bypass the sensor after all. I found out that the wire from the power connector about half way down mysteriously was cut!!!?? I bet you it was the guy who put the condensor in. I bet you they would of told me I needed a new compressor too. SOB's Its really hard to find someone you trust these days. anyway cold ac now. thanks.
