non vtec

what do you mean by how lumpy can I handle?

I don't care as long as it can be a daily driver as well as pass aircare, but I want it to be fast and loud.

if you have a GSR.....

If you want good midrange-top end gains CTR/ITR cams with any type of cam gears (toda, skunk2, etc). Those are the best buy cams too, you can find them for around 300-350 anywhere. I think they are easily the best bang for the buck cams, I used the ITR cams and loved them. I got great power from them with some good supporting mods. You can use your stock GSR redline and still see gains witout upgrading, however, depending on your other mods then you would want to upgrade your valvetrain to handle higher reving. 00-01 ITR cams are the same as CTR cams....

Skunk2 Stage 1 cams are a bit better then CTR/ITR, not much really though. There quite a bit more money but benefit more in the topend. You will see better power gains from these cams with good supporting mods. Not enough for the money difference (my opinion)

Skunk2 Stage 2 is a great cam. More aggressive and a pretty good buy. However, your going to need to upgrade your valvetrain, raise your compression, etc. Supporting mods really helps these cams and of course higher compression....I think these cams go right around with Toda Spec B's. Those are my 2 favorite aggressive cams, fairly reliable, not a bitch to tune and give you very good power.

You should look at some headwork and a skunk2 intake manifold defiantely with those cams more aggressive cams or even the CTR/ITR cams, and a compression raise will always benefit. Along with tuning (VAFC, Hondata)...because those cams are going to give you the drop in power you want...definately need to tune them.

One more thing.

I suggest 00-01 ITR cams and Toda Cam gears. It'll run you around $500 for both. A very good buy and probably your best bang for the buck. Shop around the classifieds and you'll find some.

goodluck...

non vtec.. u should look into crower they make good stuff im proly goin to use the 402 or 403

by lumpy i mean when u run a more aggresive cam your idle gets rougher...but u will gain more power

also important to look at is where you want your powerband to be and what compression pistons are you using, big cams arent much use with out more compression
