Default just ordered my EF8 front end!

i just got one from Steve at hmotorsonline.com...i cant wait...how long should it take. i already have the bumper, bumper reinforcement bar, lights, fenders and hood off. i know i have to wire the lights for h4 bulbs and put the JDM radiator support in there but what else (oh and anyone have a write up on how to change from 9006/9005 bulbs to H4 bulbs?). i dont vthink it will take all that long. does fitment and to make it line up perfect take forever or what...anyone thats already done this give me your opinion.

You dont have to use the JDM ****, all you need is the bumper, headlights, and hood, the usdm fenders will work, here is a writeup on the swap.

It depends, are you gonna do it or have someone professionally put it on? If you are gonna put it on with no welding experience or mechanical experience, it's gonna take you an eternity; if a shop puts it in, it'll be about a day (if he's not busy), anymore than that would be bull.

It took me two days to properly align and assemble everything.

i bought the conversions from hmotorsonline.com and steve said it included everything i needed and everything just bolted on. what welding/grinding are you talking about? does the front conv. include the complete front radiator support that needs to be welded in? the piece that goes from fender to fender. im confused.

No welding required.............its just a bolt on experience. An extra set of hands could never hurt though.

ya man its gonna take you maybe 8 hours to get it all on there and alligned perfect.

ANd extra set of hands form a brother/sister/friend just to hold one side in place or level would be sick though

How much did you pay?

complete radiator support..but the geometery of it is identical to your usdm support. when i ordered mine it took him about a month to get it to my door..hes a good business man..but hes a slacker. it showed up at 9am and i started immediately. I had to leave for work at 3:30 and i finished the entire conversion JUST in time...

the headlight conversion is simple. if i remember correctly the colors of the wires will match. cut both of your 9000's off pretty close to the bulb so youll have enough wire to play with..strip both power wires on your old harness and on your h4. match the colors and secure them with solder, or butt connectors. strip the ground wire coming from the h4 and then pick one of the ground wires coming from the old 9004/6 harness..it doesnt matter which one, but you only need 1. hook it up and secure it.

When they send this to you, are they able to unload it themselves, or are you supposed to supply a means of unloading. Also, does it include everything from the front minua the engine? Like the brakes and master cylinder and wiring and such?

it tooke me about two evenings minus dinner to align my ef9 front end. main thing was the fogs are a pain to align w/the bumper right. I still gotta work on it a bit, but I'll wait b/c I still need my filler piece and to fit a lip on it.

Anyone still keep their bumper support in there? If I wreck w/out it, gaw, bye bye b16.

oh yeah and the usdm rad. support works ....after you move the hood latch backwards by notching the holes, and putting spacers on the rad support 4 bolt holes and making notches for the other latch side to move forwards

im still confused on how to make the hood latch work. everything else3 is pretty much self explanatory. where on the radiator support do i put spacers, how many, what size, and what do i notch the hood latch with? a dremel? two more questions...what guage wire should i buy to rewire the headlights and do the headlights come with h4 bulbs and harness?

yes...you should have asked steve a lot of these questions your asking us.

all in all...this conversion is pretty easy if you've had minimal experience with body work and aligning panels, or even have common sense.

what im wondering is why you already have the panels off of your car and you just ordered it?
is the car not running right now?

good luck man

Glad my front end came off an EF1. The rad. supports that came on EF1 and EF2's are an exact fit, no washers necessary. Moving the hood latch as well as its receiver as far forward as u can isnt gonna do much, u need to add those washers/spacers to each side of the radiator support to bump it out a bit. OR u can bend the **** out of the center portion of the radiator support and use no washers (like i did on a friends car, but it looked clean).
