Default 2004 Civic

I have a 2004 Civic with the VP package. I just bought an aftermarket tach since my car does not come stock with one. I'm having a hell of a time finding the ignition coil. I need to find the negative charge on the ignition coil to hook up one of the wires for the tachometer. Any information on where it might be located is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I just learned that I would have to approach the wiring differently if I were to have a "distributionless" ignition system. If so, how would I go about wiring it for the tach?

dont know if it i the same on the new cars but under your hood on the drivers side coming out of your firewall there is a blue wire with a cap on it resting on the fender by the shock, this is where the green wire connects to for the tach. now im not 100% sure because you have a new civic but thats where mine is on my 98. hope this helped

I have a 5-speed manual in it. The reason it doesn't come with a tach is because it's the VP package. (AKA Value Package). So basically the MSRP starts @ a mere $13,500 for a brand new car. Of course it's exactly the same as the LX/DX except no power windows/locks.
