Default usdm ecu vs jdm ecu on jdm h22

Right now im using a usdm p13 and was wondering if my car might run better with the jdm p13? Ive heard that the jdm version has better air/fuel ratio maps but im not entirely sure. Does the fact that the jdm motor is 10.6c compared to 10 matter when it comes to the ecu?

AFAIK, the US, and CA in particular, have much more stringent laws than Japan regarding emissions. So I would be inclined to think that you'll get slightly better performance with the JDM ecu when tuned.

I'm not sure but I've heard that the ecu is responsible for the 4-5hp difference in the usdm and jdm motors

The c/r difference won't matter much. The difference in HP is because of the c/r, not the ecu. However, there is a speed governor on the jdm ecu. I haven't heard the jdm p13 to have better fuel maps than the usdm ones though...But your emissions will go psycho because the obd tools the testing sites have will not comprehend the signals given by the jdm ecu causing you to be in some trouble lol.

only difference between the 2 ecu's is the speed governer on the jdm one at around 120mph

i agree with that also as i have run them back to back and compared over and over and can only tell which one is in by hitting the speed limiter.....BUT they have slightly different timing maps. as far apart as 7 degrees of advance in some areas, but they are small pockets on the timing map and wont likely be very noticeable to any driver.

ok good this is exactly what i wanted to hear. My h22 is running kinda sluggish and i tryed seafoam which works wonders by the way, i now actually have mad torque at 3k rpm. but sometimes it will still lose that power and im thinking its gotta be the fuel filter, ill drop down into 2nd right at 6.5 VTEC and i will hear the loud vtec sound but it takes it like 2 sec to pull away real fast. It just sits there like i was giving it 10% throttle for that 2 sec.
