Default civic si 04: add-on alarm or install a completely new system

hi, rookie question:

Got an si a few months ago, thinking of putting in a system so want to install an alarm for security. I was told that I could either get an add on alarm from Honda or install a completely new system (black widow was recommended to me).

Pros and Cons? or pretty much the same thing? If I install the black widow, would I still be able to use the manufacturer's keyless remote? And would it still be utilizing the stock immobolizer?

thanx

it all depends on what you're lookin for in an alarm. it also depends on where you live and what's available. if you live on long island like I do I would just get an audiovox upgrade alarm part number 9232a with a glass sensor and ignition kill. or if you want something with a 2 way setup audiovox makes something like that as well, drawing a blank on the part number though but this one replaces your remotes with a regular remote and a 2 way transmitter. the 9232a operates through your factory keyless

i live in vancouver, canada, so I'm not sure if the audiovox part would be available...? I'm just looking for glass/door sensor protection, and there's already a stock immobilizer, so i don't need anything fancy. I actually prefer to use my factory remote, so i guess the 9232a would be more suitable, just need to find out if it's available here...

Are there other options that I can also consider?

I would get an alarm first so then you can put in your system and know that there is an extra layer of security for your car and SYSTEM
