Very easy. I believe the 92 DX already has the wireing for VTEC in the chassis harness, so all you need is the motor and ecu, and everything is a direct plug and play deal.

EDIT: You will also need the engine harness also.

i dont think the dx is prewired for vtec. i believe its the vx or cx. but its a straight bolt in. all you need is the P28 ecu then your all good. this was my first swap and we did it easily in 8 hours

Soo what kind of wiring problems would happen? And does it matter that I have an auto tranny?

Like I said before. I'm ******* tired of people giving bad information and not knowing **** to begin with.

DX models are NOT wired for VTEC. I BELIEVE the only ones that were wired for VTEC on the 5th Generation chassis (1992-1995) were the VX, EX, and Si. The EX and Si came with the D16Z6 motor which is a SOHC VTEC motor and the VX, I BELIEVE, was a SOHC VTEC-E motor. I'm not COMPLETELY sure on the VX, but I think I might be on the right track.

Swap should be plug and play. All you'll need to do is run wiring for VTEC and I do believe something else that escapes me right now. Search and you should find some things out, there's a few topics on this already.

Dimi, you're right on.
BTW, if you get stuck and nothing you search for yields results (if you don't find anything, read the thread on how to search) you might consider PM'ing Spade or BauleyCivic. Everything I've asked them, they knew right away.

Sorry in advance if this causes headaches to the D-Series fanatics

So I guess honda fucked up when they put my buddies 92 Honda Civic DX 4 door toegether. All he did was put the motor in with the harness and pluged the computer in and viola it runs and vtec does work. Not to mention ive been told this by a few other people around here but oh well, if its useless info then so be it.

I got a p28 out the local junkyard for $50, they can range from that to over $100.

http://www.car-part.com usually has the cheapest P28's I've seen in the last year. You're lucky if you find them less than $100 in good shape though...

Ok dick. You said the 1992 DX are wired for VTEC you didn't say that all models of 1992 were wired for VTEC. THAT'S where I came in. If you had mentioned all were wired for VTEC, it would've been another story.

Why don't you both get over it. You were both technically wrong, both of you didn't provide enough information to make your statement 100% right.

And, so what your saying is that all 92s were wired for Vtec, but 93-95 and up weren't? What about 96 and up? Just looking to learn some more info

Ok *******. The reason I said the 92 DX has it is because (if you didnt notice) HE HAS ONE!

And if you go back to your post you said the DX is NOT wired for vtec. So it would have been ok if I said all models but its not ok that i said that the specific model he is asking about has it. Whatever!!!

Yeah not all the 93-95 Civics are wired, which sucks cause i have a 93 DX. And im pretty sure the 96 up are not all wired either.

Just put a D16z6 swap in my 1992 CX Hatch. It was all plug and play no wires added anywhere. Im using a P28 ECU... All 92 Civics are wired for VTEC (CX,DX,LX,VX,Si)
