Default New 01 CBR600 F4i.. one litttle prob.

I just picked up an 01 CBR F4i.

It seems to have a speedometer problem. I'm new to actually working on bikes.. but I know cars well. If these are anything like cars.. perhaps this problem is a speedometer sensor?

Sometimes the speedometer reads "0" all the time... and sometimes it actually works, but seems out of calibration and off speed. If anyone can give me a tip on what to look for or where to start looking for a problem, please do! I'd like to know how fast I'm going.

I'll post a picture of the bike soon. It's red.

No needle on mine.. it's digital. =p

Sometimes when I first start the bike and ride it around the digital speedometer works.. then it goes to "0" again. It's pissing me off.

And now there's an "F1" red light coming on every now and then.

Someone please give me some tippers. thanks!@

don't fix it!
it might save you a lot of money. if you happen to be speeding and get pulled over, you can use it as an excuse

Please man read your manual and find out what lights mean what. The "Fi" Light you are seeing is for the fuel injection system. There is obviously a problem there and can and should only be checked out by your honda dealer.

the speed is monitored by ignition on the fuelie bikes. the FI light that comes on is an engine check light, probably due to the intermittent speed sensor problem. take it into a shop and have them run a diagnostic.

the greta hting about bikes is the significant amount of retards who buy them with little to no riding experience... you'll be able to find a salvaged ecm in no time for cheap.

I don't have a manual yet. It's sunday and the shop is not open. I will pick one up tomorrow. I've been stuck to the internet in the meantime.

I've looked into almost all of the wiring on the bike and everything seems fine. I'll defientely take it in to be looked at though.

Thanks for the help people..

I have the same bike with the same problem. I took it to the honda dealer and thay told me that the reason that the FI light comes on is because the computer doesnt know what speed your travelling and doesnt know how much fuel to spit in the chamber.

I got told that I need to replace the speed sensor. I have checked the wiring and the display unit and its all good. I have to agree its frustrating when it comes on from time to time.

I guess in more money that needs to be forked out for another speed sensor. I plan on pulling it out myself and taking a lot to see what the cause of it is. Let you know what happens
