Default Tire Question #2,032,011.. 215/50/16 on stock wheels?

I searched but couldn't find where anyone had done this or suggested this. I have a 97 SH and 215/45/16 tires start out at about $170 on tirerack where 215/50/16 tires start out at about $80. The tire calculator I checked said that my speedo would be about 1.6% slow. I'm not too worried about the speedo reading, I just don't want it to look stupid or rub. I saw where Azenis come in 215/45/16, but everyone says they suck in anything but dry weather, and this is my daily driver.

So, could I try 215/50/16's or should I just stick with the stock 205/50/16's??

Well you'll have a fatter sidewall and they will appear to 'bulge' a little due to the size+sidewall

It won't rub though

Thanks, do you think my handling would suffer too much? Or maybe I should put it like this, what will handle better: the stock size tires, or 215/50/16's?
