So im changing the oil in my Gf's 02 civic ex and it turns out that the service manual is not in the car Does anyone know how much oil the D17 needs?

Just buy a 5-Quart jug, fill up with 3, check dipstick, fill until full. Not Rocket Science.

 

The oil will take time to drip down through the head, block, and into the oil pan. I know its minor, but I'd rather not overfill... I think is somewhere like 4.2 quarts, but I'd rather be sure. Thanks for the quick reply tho...

hey dude, i believe 4 quarts will do it for ya. if its too much it wont be by much and if its too little, add a little more. really easy!

Oil change with filter arequires 3.8 quarts for the D16Y7.

The D16Y8 actually only takes 3.5 quarts with oil and filter change too.
