Default 90' Honda Accord Help Please!

Ok, I am 16, I was driving a Dodge Stealth until I crashed it (I was about shoot myself!).

I kinda "have" to drive a 90 Honda accord now. Insurance wont let me get anything else, or else they will drop us. I figure Ill make the best of it...

I plan on doing alot of modifications to this car. it is a 1990 Honda Accord LX 2DR. If anyone has any suggestions or pics, even web sites that can help me out, PLEASE TELL! Anything is good! I am looking into extertior stuff more first... since I have a wisconsin winter ahead of me I need somthing to keep me busy. This car is bone stock exept for my pioneer cd-player and In-dash 6 disc changer!

Thanks guys!

What the hell is wrong with driving a 4th Gen Accord Coupe?? Its a great car with lots more to offer than a ******* stealth. A 16-year old with an attitude like that....you'll grow out of it, or just wont last long on this board.

wow.. I guess I didnt mean it like the way you people are taking it at all!

I just said I was keeping the car! As far as my old stealth... 1993 Stealth R/T Twin Turbo.. I am guessing it could smoke any of your cars. I didnt want to start a argument here..!!

I dont know why you took it so baddly, and you didnt have to say the stuff about the stealth!? I dont think I am the one who needs to grow up here!!!!!

Well, if you put a Prelude motor (H22A) into that Accord and beef up the suspension, you'll be able to lap Stealth R/T turbos (porkers) on any circuit in the country... like I can.

Correction, your OLD stealth CANT smoke any of OUR cars because YOUR stealth is SMASHED TO ****. I'm faster than your Stealth on a bicylce. And even if it could still run, sure, you'd pass me on a track, but you certainly cant say that about every Accord on this board. Assuming Accords are slow is just ignorant. Why dont you hang around a bit, and see what some of these guys have.

Really? I dont mean to say that your wrong, but I tend to disagree, I mean my old car had a lil over 300hp.. bone stock.. all wheel drive.. all wheel steering after about 65 mph.. and i was planining on modifing that car too.

But wait! before you get mad I understand that we are talking about 2 different kind of car and car racing here... I am aiming more for the 1/4 mile and I guess cause I am only 16.. I dont know anything close to as much as you probaly know.

I dont think I am in the market to do a engine swap at this point. Thats one thing that sucks.. and I am acully to tell you the truth more concerned with looks.. so the exterior part of my accord... I was thinking about puting a EX lip on it and sticking some mesh grills on the front.... Due to the roads here I cant have it to low.... I would Be aiming for 18" White racing wheels and for sure a new paint job. The euro lighting and all that bullshit comes in later.

With the engine mods (just bolt-on ****) I had in mind for it... It wouldnt be anything special.. I was thinking along the lines of just Exhaust, Intake, Pulleys (I am not into big stereo systems!) , Header, Stuts, new clutch would be nice, fuel rails...

But like I said I just started looking into this and I dont know much about the engine.. 2.2L i think..

you dont have to be such an ******* about it... I know that there are plenty of honda's out there that can be a stealth tt.... I was just thinking that it was LITTLE bit of a downgrade from my old car (witch I know and admit I WAS DUMB and was speeding and crashed IT!) to the honda.. sorry man

Respect.
I got an EX with an EX front spoiler. Mesh grill which I gotta change because they look like ****. Euro clear corner, and getting clear bumpers. I got 17's and they barely fit, I think 18's will rub if you turn the wheel all the way.

Default Re: 90' Honda Accord Help Please! (schlit)

i totally agree with schlit on this one. if the kid was driving a stealth, then the accord is a downgrade. don't get me wrong, the accord is a great car, but in order for it to be as fast as you guys are talking about, it needs the engine swap. If you guys weren't so stuck up with your accords (please don't take too much offense to that) then you would realize that you have done many mods to your cars and would possibly beat the stealth that is totally stock. however, what you don't seem to be realizing is that the stealth could easily outdo the accord bone stock to bone stock. add the suspension to the accord and a LOT of turns, and the accord becomes the better car. I personally hate dodges, but the stealth is not a bad car to have, especially for a first car.

oh, yeah, the other thing is, if you guys give everyone this kind of treatment when they want help, you may as well let this forum end. this is supose to help out people who are looking for help. if someone has a question, we should all be more helpful to answer his/her question, without being so rude and inconsiderate. he wants to make his accord faster, then give him some HELPFUL suggestions as to what he can do and where he can get the mods.

sorry for being a dick, but i had to put in my 2 cents.

Melleur, I dont think you should mod anything on your Lx. All the work you put into the car without an engine swap will make a average fast car. If you think you'll be happy with that, then go for it. You're 16, and I doubt you have a really good cash flow to fund worthwhile modifications. I say, work your *** off and invest your money now, when you're 21 like me you'll have an easy 50g's to play with. That's when you can get a brand new fast car instead of being stuck with a 16 year old modded out accord. think about it. Dont call me a parent....I'm just passing on info that has helped me so much.
This is honestly the best idea that has been posted by far. If you are going to be spending your own money on the car it will benifit you by far to invest that amount and compile a lump sum to start with when you get out of college, assuming that you attend a college, you seem to have a smart head on your shoulders. I can show you graphs of invest potentials that would blow your mind.
I know I wish I had saved my money when I sarted working. I would do simple mods to the car. I don't know your taste but I would suggest staying away from GT wings and crazy stickers and other **** like that if the car cannot back it up.

Good luck with the car and always know that we can help you to the best of our knowledge, although some of our members gave a bad impression at first.
I hope youn learn as much as I have reading this board.

Thanks for thr advise, and I have thought about it... but the thing is, cars are basiclly my only hobbie and the only thing I spend money on, my collage is set and my parents have already invested quite a bit for me..

I am going to go though with it, I have been looking at alot of examples of these cars and decided its worth it. I just ordered indio-glow gauges, shift ****, and pedals... JUST to spice up the interior a little bit, so now thats kind of out of the way and I can consentrate on the exterior plus performance.

So if anyone has any suggestions of web sites.. whatever, that would be cool.

Dont get me wrong aobut the swap either! I would Love the stick the prelude motor into my car, but that kind of money plus to dedication to taking on a job like that for me, isint really here right now.

AEM cold air intake is an in-exspensive bolt on along with underdrive pulleys, header, and exhaust. I am not big into exterior mods so i will let someone else tell you about those.
i buy most of my stuff through NOPI, even though others will have better suggestions. try http://www.nopi.com to get an idea. Also the links at the top of the page.
There are also a couple of distrubuter's that roam this board that might chime in.
Good Luck.

Alright, I read some reviews and did a little research on performance parts. I am thinking about Greddy Cat-back, AEM cold air, DC sport header, probaly AEM pulleys... just surface things here...

what are your opinions on these mods and the brands?
