I'm in the market for a short ram intake and I have the choice of either a chrome finish or a powder coated blue or red finish. Does anyone know anything about which will conduct less heat? Granted, metal is metal and the specific heat of steel is going to be the same no matter what the finish is; however, would powder coating add any sort of protective heat barrier that a traditional chrome finish wouldn't? I searched for this but it turned up like 800 results, so I just thought I'd ask rather than spend the entire night sorting through posts that don't even pertain to my topic. Thanks.

 

Just use exhaust wrap and wrap the intake up..will work a+

Get something like an Iceman which is made out of plastic. Stays cooler than such metal intakes like AEM/Injen

 

yeah iceman is tight. carb legal too
