car: 92 honda accord 4-door ex

problem: drive light (automatic transmission) stays on while on neutral. when put on drive, instead of going through all the gears it starts on fourth. so we hooked up the OBD I scanner and did not give any codes. can someone help me out with this? thanks in reply.

I have the same year but a lx and mine does the thing with the light.Except it shifts kind of funny until I go through the gears a couple of times then the light starts blinking and it shifts fine after that.I've been told that light means something is wrong and it should throw a code.Have you tried to check your tranny fluid for shavings?I would do that because it's easy and if you have metal shavings in the fluid there's no need to look any further.

 

you have a auto trans conroller under the pass side carpet,known to go bad

 

thanks groove and bill, ill go ahead and change the transmission fluid before checking the auto trans controller.

 

adjust the shift linkage under the center console.
