Shock Tek rebuilds
Hi, I was reading the article by Grassroots motorsports entitled, "Shocking Behavior" and they mentioned a company called, "Shock Tek" that would do custom valving on shocks using bilstein internals, and also modify them for adjustable dampening/rebound. I later learned in my research that this company randomly dissapeared from earth, and I was wondering if there are any other people out there who do this sort of work?

They rebuilt the shock tek after some scoring on the shaft. They may also be able to help with a dyno as I gather the author now has access to a shock dyno.

That is downright scary. You have to give the guys credit for being backed into a corner and having the gumption to try it themselves but it sure seems like learning by stumbling into it. If they know anything about dyno graphs, they would remove that silly canister they added as it only adds things that you would not want. The Shock Tek graphs don't look too fabulous but at least they have some low speed control where you really need it and have some adjustment. The Bilstein "no low speed, progressive to high speed" graphs that they made as about the epitome of bad valving, ...then add a ton of high speed only bump? Run and hide. I can't imagine how that can have anything but negative effect on the car. You have a preset rebound, compression only adjustable shock that only makes changes in the worst part of the graph. Please leave it to people who have some clue as to what is going on.
BTW, Morriss Dampers went out of business on no notice and fleeced a LOT of racers for lots of money. Thanks to banlruptcy laws, these private individuals are screwed becasue they just became small players on a long list of creditors who get to divide the nothing that was left.

You can get them rebuilt and re-valved to any rate you want by Bilstein in SoCal, but I don't think they'll make them adustable like shok tek did. They're located in Poway, CA.
