Default header and cat question

i recently bought an rsr exhaust and it is 2.25 inches. i want to buy headers and a cat for my car and you guys here at hondatech said to go comptech/carsound but all the headers i can find are 3 or 2.5 inches so i need to know if there is a 2.25 header or if there is a cat that has 2.5 at one end and 2.25 at the other. please help me out i am anxious to put the exhaust on my car thanks. and if anyone knows where to buy these cheap it would also be much appreciated thanks, Steve

my friend was telling me to put a test pipe on instead of a cat but i dont want my exhaust to be too loud, that is why i got the rsr its supposed to be the quitest exhaust out. ive heard that it makes your car scream from some people and some say it doesnt effect the noise at all. if someone knows please write to me and let me know.

First off, you can still get a 2.5" header and cat and just get something welded or placed in between, any exhaust shop can help you out.

If im not mistaken isn't the RSR exhaust restrictive(chambered muffler), if your looking for power then get a free flowing exhaust. But if your that worried about the noise then i understand that.

For choice of header it all depends on your price range. (JDM ITR 4-1, Toda, Comptech, SMSP, etc). There are a world of different headers available.

As far as cats, definately go with Carsound, its the best on the market. If you want to go with a testpipe then it'll be louder but it'll give you more power...its your call. I don't understand going with a RSR catback then getting a test pipe, it kind of 2 different directions for performance. Choose one or the other.

i think i am going to go with the comptech header but dont know if i should go with the mig or tig the price difference is about $100 and im not sure if i should go with the better one or not. im not to sure of the difference other than one has a stronger weld and if that is even needed. i think i am going to go with the test pipe instead of the cat. it will make my car louder but the rsr should keep that in check. the main reason i went with the rsr is i didnt want a coffee can sounding exhaust i dont mind if its somewhat loud i just want a deeper sound to it. if someone knows a site where i can get a test pipe that goes from 2.5 at one end to 2.25 at the other please let me know. or if someone knows where there is good pricing on comptech headers please let me know.

I don't know of any commercial header that has 2.25" collector. Most of them are either 2" or 2.5."

The Comptech 4-2-1 has a 2" collector and is a very fine piece. Just to let you know, Comptech discontinued their MIG versions last year and only produce TIG models. IIRC, the going price for a TIG version is about $475.
