If it doesn't have a groove to cover and capture the Koni circlip, I expect that it will fail and I would not use it . Someone else here recently showed them without grooves and I can't imagine why as the capturing groove is the primary reason for the platform itself. If the shock has a circlip, a groove is needed to secure it.

I would contact that and say "Where is the groove?".

Didnt the other person say that they used the Koni perch with the groove to secure the clip, and rested the Skunk pearch above the Koni unit?

I could be way off in left here....just what I recall.

You might be able to do that but it would be cleaner no to have the perch there at all and to have the groove in the ring itself. There would be no need to stack up to four items on each other to get the desired result. Since they were copying the Koni rear Civic ring that has the groove, I would think they would include the groove.

Default thread hijack: how to move circlip?

how does one go about moving the circlip? just pry it out with something pointy? or is there a trick to it?

Needle nose or snap-ring plyers works for me.

so the one you got looks like a washer? no groove?

I called skunk2 again and they said that the ring is supposed to have no groove on it....

I'm tired of trying to find out so i'm just going to go ahead and use the one I got from skunk2 which has no groove.

i beleive you still use koni's circlips on the grooves...
the skunk2 thing you just bought acts as a lower seat for the coilover sleeves
so its....circlips on the groove...skunk2 "washer" seat sitting on the koni circlips...then the skunk2 sleeves sitting on that skunk2 "washer" seat

Without a groove in the underside of the ring to swallow and physically keep the circlip from expanding when loaded, it is just a matter of time until it happens. Trust me, don't risk it.

I beg your pardon-call KONI and they can point you to Lee himself. The part they have has a groove on one side. I have them on my Koni/Skunk sleeve setup. As for Skunk not knowing what you are asking-that is another issue. Get the right plates and all will be good. Oh-be sure to use the supplied O-rings inside the sleeves to center them on the shocks.

Follow Lee's advice, dude. He kind of IS Koni, at least as far as this board - and a lot of racers - are concerned.

I have returned your calls Daniel but am getting voice mail and have left at least one message. I didn't return the IM because I thought the voice mail was sufficient to get through. I have the part number of the proper grooved ring sitting on my desk waiting to talk with you and we have them is stock. I am in the office 8-5 eastern Monday through Thursday of this week.

I can't speak for Skunk 2, I can't think of why they didn't put the groove in their ring.

i solved my own problem with a trip to the garage.

it's all about this silver ring that was already on the konis.

it sits snug over the circlip, and the skunk adaptor ring rest cleanly on it.

in summation, the overpriced skunk2 koni adaptor ring will work for your civic/teg/accord/etc if and only if you have the circlip rings supplied by koni.

That's what I was speaking of above.
