Maximum HP on stock internals.
I just wanted to drop this thread before I go to bed. Does anyone know the maximum horsepower one should push on a stock LS block. Im not talking at the verge of blowing up, but the maximum horsepower in a safe range.
Thank you.
Thank you.
995, 1000 is pushing it. Just kidding. To be safe I would say no more than 240 or so(and that may be pushing it). There are a ton of people that will tell you 300+- but let's be real here. If it's not tuned perfectly then you'll have serious problems real fast. And even if you don't have problems real fast you will eventually. If you want it to run like stock and last like stock, then leave it stock.

Dont misunderstand me, I still wanted to the know the numbers. You cant expect anyone to learn anything unless they ask even the oddest of questions.
Thanks for the info though, I wanted to know for informational purposes.

the most important thing would be getting good fuel management. I've seen close to 300whp on stock LS blocks that have lasted a long time w/ proper managment. I'm getting 285whp on my daily driven GSR and still get 27-29 mpg on the highway

Agreed.. It is all about tuning and good engine/fuel managment.

I have another question.
My goal is 200whp (something modest). Should I get a smaller turbo that spools up faster and not a big fatty turbo since pure raw horsepower isnt my game?

yeah definately go for a small turbo that'll put more power on the power curve....a big turbo for that hp goal would suck LOL. T3 super 60 would be a good candidate

a very helpful tip about goin boost....dont go boost if you aint' got the money. turbo can't not be down ghetto style or racer on a budget...you'll just end up spend a whole lot more money then u suppose to...
Ok. Well I see one recommendation was already made on a smaller turbo. Anyone else recommend a turbocharger for a 200whp goal. Also links to places to purchase the turbo would be greatly appreciated.

PM hulkhb or project dc2 ...they're both fabricate nice turbo parts (IC piping, custom manifold, and custom downpipes at reasonable prices). Then flamenco-t for your oil/fuel line needs. I recomended the t3 super60 because it will get you to your 200whp goal and have a little more room to grow, project dc2 was able to squeeze out 270+whp on a super 60. Another good thing is that if and when you want to move to a bigget turbo, you can go to a bigger t3/t4 turbo and still use the same turbo manifold/downpipe (same flange configuration ofcourse)

Good deal, just be very careful when shopping for parts on Ebay, they sell alot of shitty manifolds, shitty Dpipes ect......
Check out the sponsor forums theres always deals there.
AS far as my Ls im running 1 bar, making 271/253 ft lbs. It runs like stock, Ive had no problems, its all in the tuning
I have a buddy too local, B18bek now hes pushing the limits but hes making 320/273 on Stock Ls, and its been running for 9-10 months now, and not to mention the Turbo setup and motor came out of another friends car, also boosted prior to going in his car, so that motor has seen 300+ hp for almost 2 years!!!!!!!

I wouldn't shop on ebay if I were you. My friend bought 2 different turbos off of there, and both of them were fucked up.

You should consider a jackson racing supercharger. It'll be cleaner for your car and let your engine last longer. Plus, you can boost your horsepower by about 50%, which in your case meets your goal.
