Default threw some borrowed wheels on my Civic....

Threw some Schmidt THs on the Civic. My coworker with a 91 GTI had these wheels before he bought new ones, so I decided to try them out. THey're 7in. wide with 2in. lips...and they each run about $450. As it was an experiment, I learned a couple things...195/50-15 and 195/45-15 with a stretch makes a big difference in overall diameter. Also, I think I'm gonna have to lower the car more to pull something like these off!

Here are the pics:

Those look wider than 7". I have 195/45-15s on 15x7 wheels on my Civic and they aren't nearly that stretched.

To me those only look good on MkIs and IIs.

Its the offset most likely. Those rims look dope on old school GTI's though.

The offset doesn't affect the amount of stretch.

I think that size wheel and tire looks good on the car, but only with more drop. The style of the actual wheel doesn't flow to me though.

the offset plus the 2-inch lip. They look A LOT better on the GTI. I didn't expect them to stick so far out. I'll definately keep my ATS Type 10s (they're 15x7) on the car...looks a lot better on the car. Only put on one side of these wheels....here's the difference.

Left - Schmidt TH - 15x7 with 2-inch lip

Right - ATS Type 10 - 15x7

And apparently, a lot of you guys don't like to try stuff out, just for the hell of it. for not being adventurous.

stupid euro tire stretching bullshit.

don't corner too hard, might rub your rim on the street or pop the tire off the bead.

Yup....the width of the tire and wheel are still the same no matter what offset the wheel is or the size of the lip. So maybe those tires run skinny. Are they Toyo T1S?

Any pics of your wheels? If you got rid of the gap those Schmidts would look nice. Are you considering buying these or did you just throw them on for kicks?

I love those rims and always wondered how they would look on a civic. Doesn't look too good, but for trying something new out. It's not like it's set in stone or something. I think a black civic hatch (EF, EG, or EK) could pull the look off though if it was dumped to the ground with pulled fenders...would make a cool and different looking show car.

They are the T1S. And, I can't remember the offset. I'm a big fan of the Schmidt Moderns, but I would never buy any of them....$500 per wheel is not for me or my daily driver. But, definately would have to slam the car for them to look decently good...and I'm not sure I wanna do that with my daily, again. I just threw 2 wheels on for kicks. Here's as good a pic of my wheels as I could find....

thanks, thats the only reason I tried them out...see how they'd look. I don't own them and I would never buy them (i have better things to do with $2000 for just wheels and no rubber). A dumped EG hatch could pull them off, I think.
