Default Running turbo with NO intercooler.

This past weekend while at the races I went over to see Stephan papadakis' car. I noticed he isnt running any type of intercooler. Does anyone know why he is doing this. Someone pointed out, but I dont know if its true, that alot of the Grand National guy running high boost do the same thing with no intercooler. Is there any advantage to this that I dont know about?
Please inform me....

He almost had to have been at the boost their running, recommended to only run w/out intercooler if you aren't pushing many pounds of boost.

I remember somewhere seeing a 9 sec Hyundai (i think it was hyundai) that was running no intecooler. It was a drag only car and I think the idea was that an intercooler wasnt needed since the car was only moving for <10sec each time it ran - just a thought, I can't begin to pretend I know what they're thinking

NOS is his intercooler hahah!
unless its a 200 shot, i don't think it can cool the airs as
efficient...

water/air can have 100%++ efficiency

yup, remember, water to air ICs aren't front mount. so if you're judging whether or not he has an IC, it's probably under the hood

he's running a methanol system, which cools things quite nicely, and doesn't introduce a pressure drop. That's what I read anyway..

Ahh ok... just like John Brown was. Remember he didn't use and intercooler at with his methanol setup.

Ah.... This makes sense now! They must be using a water injection system but rather than using water, they use Methanol! Nice!!!!!

He is definately not running an intercooler. I have looked over the car several times in person. He just has red AEM piping that goes directly from the turbo to the manifold.

err.... he runs methonal as a fuel. not injected like water injection. that kinda of alcohol injections uses denatured/isypropyl dilute variety alcohol. papadorkis doesnt run an i/c because they are not effcient at such short burts. the burnout heat the i/c that has no airflow cause the car is sitting there..see now its just a hot *** heat excahnger... by the time its cool the run is over. back to alcohol, yes it does burn cooler as a fuel than lets say gasoline. but they do burn twice as much of it....thusly alcohol motors run extremely hot and tend to melt alot of ****.

Ed Bergenholtz's car does not even run right now. It is pretty much completely torn apart and it's sitting at AEBS.

alcohol burns mcu cooler therefore no ic is required... alcohol is much differant from running gas though
