Default New ITR (Just Bought)

Hey I just bought a ITR (still learning and reading) so sorry if this question sounds stupid. I really wanna start to do some of my own work to it without adding turbo (maybe once I am out of college and have some money for the repairs it will need with turbo). Anyone have any ideas for engine, tires, or suspension work I could do to increase whp?

Already has:

Portflow P&P head,
ti retainers,
Toda Spec B cams,
Toda cam gears,
Toda valve springs,
CTR .25 pistons,
rc 310 injectors,
aem fuel rail,
fidanza aluminum flywheel,
act hdss clutch,
jdm 4.75 fd,
dc jdm 4-1 header,
carsound 2.5" cat,
SMSP custom 2.5" ss cat back exhaust,
injen short ram intake,
hondata standalone management.

This car already sounds very capable! I would invest in some tires, and track the CHIT out of it

If you have never driven an ITR, please don't modify it right off the bat. Take some drivers education schools or go Auto-X'ing with it and learn the car for what it is. I personally would never buy a highly modified Type R unless I knew the person well enough to trust it was all done right.

This post might be deleted but hey if it keeps going then i am sure others will join in the mix and flame ya

I met and went over the car with the previous owner. He took meticulous care of it and knew quite alot about the ITR. I drove 1.5 hours just to meet him soo i know the parts and the car are in top notch position, not to mention he gave me a rundown of things I need to be cautious about and check every so often.

There is more info on this board then you could ever ask for........go to the top and find the FAQ sticky and start reading. Congrats on your purchase. If you dont have a garage get one .

there are lots of tire options, with a huge price range. Tires are a very large subject in this forum and there is a ton of info in the archives/FAQ regarding tires. Basically any tire can be tracked. Normal street radials to hardcore DOT approve racing tires or slicks. It depends on budget, and your experience. If you have never tracked before, then just track what you have now and see how it feels. If you feel like the tires arent sufficient then you can do some searching for other tire options.

Im not sure how many miles you have on that motor (since it was built) but you might wanna check those Ti Retainers for wear before you go beating on the car too much. Dont need one of those breaking. Hopefully NSX Bob relayed that info to you as well as other wear items and things to check periodically.

you have a very nice setup car and your dont know what tires to get? damn i really hope you PROTECT this car as you should... so spend the money on multiple layered security for this car first. then worry about what tires to get....

and click on search then type in "stolen" and scroll down to the type r section... and learn from others stolen posts and prepare your car properly.

thats all we need is an itr bandwagon'er who doesnt know what he has.<<assumption i got from your post..

keep it safe. and think ahead and expect the worse. you will see what i mean soon enough

I agree with the others. There is already too much power in that car for you. You need to learn how to drive it first. Worry about more power after you can outdrive the current setup.

the itr you just bought has more "go fast" parts than a few itrs will ever see, mine included. there is something satisfying about the stock engine that is enough for some people, but since you bought the car already modified, you dont really have a baseline as to what performance the car originally progressed from.

looking at the parts you've listed, it does sound like you got lucky and bought a car that was modified by someone who did some research and made notable upgrades. i'd be happy, but many of your questions can already be found in thousands of posts previously covering many aspects of performance/suspension. search in the archives for specific topics...it works glad you found HT

I wouldn't worry about adding any more power just yet, it sounds like the car has plenty. Instead, why not spend some money on a helmet and attend some autocross and/or HPDE events -- they're well worth the $$$$

For a summer tire, I would recommend the Falken Azenis as my first choice, Yokohama ES100 as a second choice.

OK heres some answers for the last couple of posts. Its a 2000, Yellow and in incredible condition (and i am keeping it that way). As for security, there is more security stuff in this car than i ever expected. Some secret things and what not, and i plan on adding 1 or 2 more things for my personal ease of mind. So the security is just about as good as I can get it. NSX BOB did a great job with it all around, and yes he did research and built the car very well and had an amazing tuner. What i paid u ask? Lets just say i paid less than 20K because of test drive problems at the dealership because the idiots there messed up some setting on the VAFC and the engine cut out when i gave it some gas. I would like to say thank you to everyone for there help and interest.

Since i am only allowed 5 posts a day right now (trial user) it may take some time for me to answer more questions. Once i get some time on my hands i will post some pics with my friends digital camera, and I may hook it up to a dyno around here just to get some graphs and what not i will try and post them to. If you have any more questions or wants let me know. I will try and get to the expo this year, if not to drive then to watch. And yes it does have an incredible amount of power but i wouldn't necessarily say it has to much for me to handle. I am not completely Type R stupid or car and driving stupid. But i agree i need to have some schooling before i use the car to its full potential. I been takin it easy.

LOL, wish I could find satisfaction in the stock motor.

Congrats on the car, probably looking at around 190-195whp with that setup.
