Paranoid...must be getting old!!
Well..I am! 25 today!
So I decided to treat myself to a new car alarm. I was going to spend it all on goodies...but this weekend my motor is going in, and that puppy is worth 2 grand on it's own!
I ordered a full lo-jack, with all the options.
Remote start/kill, 2 way statys etc etc. Status display with signalling, the works.
This is going to be such a bitch wiring it up.
I think I need it, Now let's see if it'll help!

Although I'm a proponent of individuals installing their own system, I'd be very surprised if you can install a LoJack and have them monitor it. Keep in mind that once installed, you would have to have them activate it to verify that it works.
Before buying the LoJack, get it REAL clear in your mind what happens if your car is stolen (I don't think it's worth anything). As I understand it, here is what happens;
1. The car is stolen and there is a certain amount of time before you know it's missing. It could be hours. (their "advance notice" system could cut this down)
2. You have to go to the police station and personally file a stolen car report. It can't be called in! How do you get to the police station?
3. Once the report has been filed, it's up to the police to activate the system and track it. They are up to NO obligation to drop everything and look for your car!!
So, it could be hours before anything is done and the car could be out of the state before then, or the system found by the thief and removed.
As for any information on installing stuff, go to "the12volt.com" site for help!!
And Happy Birthday! (but, old at 26??, dang smarty kids!)

Hm...I seemed to have things mixed up.
For starters here in Europe we don't have lo-jack. But this system has a tracking system. So I'm not sure how to classify it then.
Let's just sum it up.
-De motor word gestart
-Het voertuig rijd
-Inbraak in het voertuig
-Portieren wel/niet afgesloten
-Lichten aan/uit
-Remote Engine Control
-Mute Mode
-Keyless Entry
-On-Board Flashing Light Relay
-Remote Panic
-Anti-Hijacking
-Car Finding
-Auto Re-alert
-Auto Arming
-Auto Rearming
-User Selectable Silent Arm/Disarm
-Running Protection
-Alarm Pre-Warning Signal
-Trigger Memory Backtracking Previous Activities
-High Power Siren
-Extended Range Antenna
-Engine-Disable Protection (Relay Included)
-LED Status Indicator
-Dual Stage Electronic Shock Sensor (Plug-in)
-Remote Auxiliary Channel for Trunk Release, etc.
-Instantly Alert when Vehicle is Violated
-Monitor Doors Status, Trunk Status, & Hard Impacts
-Monitor if Vehicle's Engine has been Started
-Suitable for any Make and Model of 12-Volt Vehicle
- 2-way Communication Transmitter with Color LCD Display
- FM Technology
- Code Learning Receiver
- Anti-Scan Technology
- Remote Engine Control
- Engine Status
- Doors Open/Closed Status
- Hard Impacts Status
- Signal Strength Indicator
- Silent Mode Indicator
- System Status Indicator
- Signal-Transmitting Indicator
- Low Battery Reminder
- 2 Color Options
It has a radio signal on board that can be tracked, amongst other things, with the hand unit. There's a tracking device available too that can track it for a way longer distance.
The hand unit can automatically close all the windows (and sunroof), and turn on/off the lights
Basically the thing turns my car into a RC toy car
It set me back about 200 bucks, excluding central locking and a few small goodies.
That is with a 50% discount due to a newer model coming out.

If you are in europe, then what I stated about LoJack may not apply.
What is important regardless is to know how the "communication" is done from the car to the people that are responsable for tracking it. In "teletrac" sysems, it's a cell-phone system. That means that if the thief can get the car to a "dead cell" area, it can't be tracked.
In europe, it's possible for different types of communication due to not having the FCC ruling the radio waves.
Also keep in mind that GPS is only a recieved signal that the car can use to figure out it's location. The car then has to have some form of transmitter to send that information out.
