h22a swap. from a place online. want help!!!!1
ok i am looking into getting a car as some of you probly know, because i ask alot of questions about getting one. i am thinking going the route of getting a prelude with a cheap/blown motor. then getting a jdm h22a vtech motor. think this is a practical idea??? lets say 800 ish for the car and about 2500 for the engine. think it could be done for under 3800$$$. what expenses am i looking at. in general what would i need to get the swap in and running. thanks.

Sounds like a good idea, however, be prepared for some expenses that I don't think you are considering.
I changed all the seals, oil pump, valve cover gasket, clutch, water pump, and timing belt, CV axle boots, auto timing belt tensioner to manual, and oil pan gasket.
I might have gone a little overboard but I think these will HOPEFULLY make my car more reliable. Might as well do all the stuff you can while the engine is out. Don't forget to add in for the labor to swap the motor in if you aren't doing it yourself.
Good luck. Hope I was able to help some.

AndyD, how did your swap turn out? Where did you end up getting your motor from.

I bought my swap off a guy in Va. I think he bought it from Hmotorsonline. Not sure. He sold me the whole package together. He threw in the seals, timing belt, and water pump. I bought the oil pump and a few remaining seals that were not included, clutch and flywheel myself.
My swap should be going into my car HOPEFULLY very soon. It was a long process but it will be done soon, I HOPE!!
The 240SX swap is my next project car. I have been actively looking for a used 89-92 240SX. GREAT car to mod. Factory turbo, over 200hp and torque straight from the factory, RWD, and fairly light. What more can you ask for. I just wish I did it about a year ago when the JDM Sr20DET swaps were CHEAP!. They still are, but the price is going up, FAST.
