'00 GSR won't start, getting spark and fuel
A friend of mine has a '00 GSR. Recently he changed the oil, but him not really being a car guy didn't know what the hell he was doing. He put 5 quarts in (I didn't know this until today). A few days ago after driving the car it fell staright on it's *** and wouldn't run unless you were over 3k RPM's. If it was below 3k it wouldn't even rev unless you did it VERY slowly and it didn't have any power at all. Today he went to start it and got nothing. It just cranked and cranked. He called me up and I went over to look at it but I had to be to work in 20 minutes so I didn't get to check much. I did check to see if it was getting spark and fuel and it was. It isn't throwing any CEL's. We tried to kick start it but it immeadiatly fell on it's *** and wouldn't rev at all. What could this be. I want a few sugestions before I check it out in whole.
So, did he do anything else to the car? I couldn't imagine it's because of too much oil. Although, he should drain it again and put the proper amount ( as stated in the owners manual IN the car )
it seems to me that his timing belt sliped on couple teeth, i had a friend had the same thing on his prelude h23 engine. take the valve cover off and see if his cam line up to Top Dead Center, it seems his intake valves are not corect
Yea, that's what I was thinking. I wanted to check the teeth marks with the TDC on the crank pulley but didn't have the time. I'll try that tomorrow.
