Windows are always filty dirty...what gives?
I have a '95 Honda Civic which my daughter drives, and I have been cleaning the windows (all of them) about every two weeks!
You would think the heaviest smoker alive was driving this car...and neither my daughter, her friends...or myself smokes at all! I've only owned this car for about 3 months now, but I'm wondering if I have one of the dash settings in the wrong selection, which in some way allows the windows to always look dirty?
Seeing the car in the sunshine, you would wonder how the driver could see out, they are that dirty. You can see the swirls from where I cleaned them previously, and they looked clean right after doing so....but within a week or two, they are filty dirty again!
Is this prone to Hondas?? I just can't figure this one out, and am getting tired of cleaning the windows so often.
Would love your help on this one folks!
Thanks in advance...
Dale

The first Civics to start getting cabin filters are 2001s.
I'd try cleaning the vents like mentioned, though. Maybe clean out the ducting under the dash as well and see if anything pops out.

the new windex with vinegar works wonders, i had the same problem, the person who owned my car before me was a chain smoker, this new windex finnaly seemed to get all the film off.

sounds weird. i had a honda for about two years before my current car. neither I, nor anybody i noe (relatives with stock grocery getters too) has had this kind of problem before. sounds like meaybe your daughter is doing something not good maybe...
Hook up a camera and tape her going out one night with her friends. Then you can findout for yourself if she really is doing something like that.
BTW, how old is she???

Thanks...but, she is 18, and welcome to smoke if she wished to, but knowing my daughter as I do, know she doesn't. She's actually allergic to cigarette smoke, as I've had to clean up after a session of being in a room with several smokers...and it's not so fun!
Of course there is the possibility that a smoker owned the car previous to us, but you would think once you cleaned the windows once...that they would stay that way for more than a couple of weeks??
Definitely a strange one! So, there's not a chance at all that she would smoke (she thinks it's a discusting habit) or allow anyone in the car that did....so I'll try cleaning them again...and see what happens!
Might try asking the Honda dealer if there is a reason for it??
Thanks for your suggestions and advice!

yea i bet she smokes lol. alot of teens smoke, i would know, im in hs. and it usually doesnt smell to much on the seats..
try this:
first, clean the windows just like you normally would, and take it away from your daughter. no one else drives it but you. if its stays clean, then your daughter or her friends smoke. if not then, well try this:
- use windex + NEWSPAPER... newspaper is very important. dont use normal paper towel. Newspaper > Paper towel
- clean windows..
- use car wax... yes car wax.. it works miracles for me... put it on the window just like you would use it on the paint.
should be spotless after u wipe off the wax. sounds weird but it works.
edit. ok..
so ur daughter might not smoke ciggs.. but weed is different
.. hey it could be a possibility. but seriously use newspaper then wax windows. helps a lot.
