I need help! Suspension noise? Brake noise? 89 Hatch Si....pissing me off.
Okay--
Starting doing a little bit the other day...and only when I turn right?
A 'clunking/grinding/rubbing' noise from the rear, and I'm like 99% sure its on the passenger's side.
If I go in a tight circle, it'll do it for like the first 4 or 5 circles, then seemingly stop?...then I'll go over some bumps and what not, straighten it out for about 20 feet of driving, then it'll do it another 4 or 5 circles.
It also does it when it has sat for a period of time, then I drive it...it's starting to do it a when I just go in a straight line, after it has sat, for about 20 feet, then about the next 2 or 3 right turns...then seemingly stop.
it seems as if when I go over a bump, or straighten it out(level ground also), it resets the culprit from which the noise is coming---make sense?
That is why I thought it was suspension related....like a bad strut.
I had my girlfriend wiggle the exhaust until it banged against something, while I sat inside...and it sounded kind of like it...but I think Im trying to hard.
I thought possibly could have been the back brake drum going bad, but when I went in circles, and I also pressed the brakes and didn't effect the sound...also didnt see why it would effect it when I turned, the sound comes....
Strut????
Please help, and thanks in advance.
Troy (sorry so damn long).

WTF----Isn't this the infamous site that is supposed to be so beneficial?? Doesn't it even have a couple of songs that mention it?? I don't know why so far.......
does the noise come up if you brake going straight at all, kinda hard, and almost before the vehicle comes all the way to a stop?
It doesnt sound like an exhaust problem, unless a couple hangers may have come unhooked, and if it comes from the same area every time, its probably suspension related.
Popping noises in turns usually indicate a faulty driveshaft joint...im having a similar issue on mine actually.

Hey--figured it out. It was just the exhaust shifting on the hangers, had to be 'persuaded' back to where it was....new prob. though. Sometimes the car won't start....usually it starts on the first 1/2 turn, so I notice immediately when it doesn't start. I'll just keep turning ignition off, then on, etc until it starts right up. Fuel pump on the way out??
Thx Troy
