can someone explain the differences between the 93' del sol s and the 93' del sol Si?

S is non VTEC SOHC, Si is VTEC SOHC

 

My girl friend is about to purchase a 93' del sol. The guy selling it says that it isn't an Si and I thought no big deal. As I investigated more and more I noticed that the car had alloy 14'' wheels and the tach redlined at 7200 RPMs. The engine itself doesn't say VTEC but I think it is from looking at other 1993 Del sol Sis. They don't say Si or S on the back and I just needed to confirm what it is because if its an Si I'm definatly tellin her to go for it. It the green w/ black interior and the seats have a green stripe down the middle.

 

like delsolSir said, Delsol s, is a non VTEC engine, while the Delsol Si is the D16z6 which is a SOHC VTEC, and if it is an Si, it will say VTEC on the valve cover.

Samba green was EXCLUSIVELY Si

 

it's definitely an SI. just look for the engine code and it should read d16z6. also del sol Si and VTEC come with rear disc brakes.

not true, 93 del sol si's dont have the vtec valve cover. only what u can find out if its vtak is through the solenoid or the engine code

 

how much is he selling it for? jw

 

They are selling it for 3800. It has 121,000 on the odometer and it has a new timing belt and waterpump. Its lowered an inch and has a brand new OEM clutch. All dealer maintained.

 

my old 92 si HB didnt say vtec on teh valve cover.
