intake question....
i have been lookin into intakes recently for my stock civic si 99....and i have actually searched through the intake posts recently brought up here but i haven't been able to find what i'm looking for....my first choice of intake is the aem v2 but i am worried about water getting into my engine...would this be such a problem since my car isn't lowered and i would have to worry about driving in the rain ? etc.
my 2nd choice would prolly be the aem ram air intake but i know the v2 will be more helpful in the long run when i add more mods to my car...so basically my question is am i going to have to worry about water f'ing up my engine with the v2????.
thanks

Why don't you Search?
If you hydrolock a motor due to water getting sucked in, you're pretty much a ******* moron and should be put to sleep. If you keep your fender liner, you shouldn't have a problem.
BTW, a $300 intake works just the same as a $50 one.

With any CAI your always going to have the downside of sucking up water when driving in the rain, because of deep water- depending on how hard its raining. I personally would <U>recommend</U> a drop in filter- its easy/cost effective and will give you a couple of hp's. With the drop in filter, you still have the "simple" look of the stock airbox, but you'll have some noise when giving full/half throttle.
what i did was cut the cold air (around where a short ram would be) and use a 2 inch (or whatever size the piping is) rubber cupler to make it short whenever it rains and back to cold air in just minutes

Yeah its actually a stock replacement filter. Go to this link- http://www.knfilters.com/facts.htm click on the stock replacement filters, and it gives you some facts about their filters compared to stock/other aftermarket filters. You can also order your filter through the site.

I wouldnt know first hand how well it performs. But if you are looking into something like that i would invest in the comptech icebox. There are a couple of people on this board that have them- Use the search feature and read some of the reviews on it. Heres a link to the product- http://www.comptechusa.com/store/intake2.html
ebay intake from 25-50 $ shipped and k&n filter replacing ebay filter 20-50 shipped or from your local pep boys. Thats the cheapest way and it still has the bling you like and hell throw a aem sticker on it if you think that will help. but yea thats what i have and it works real great, not one problem. But if you want to go with a highly priced intake go with iceman...its plastic so not as much heat will be contained like metal. And its relatively light like the aluminum ones. but i guess its just what you like, just my opinion.
Searchd my ***.
I dare you, click Search up top. In the Search field, type: aem, cai, short ram, or intake. Choose Archives and choose EG+ Civic Forum and I bet you ANY money you'll get a few pages of info of "what's better, J's whale ***** or AEM CAI".
If you want a good bang for the buck intake, get a K&N Drop-In filter. Find a cheap short ram intake pipe and mate it to the stock airbox. Remove resonator under the airbox and off you go.
