frustrated!!!! Starting problem....... search unsuccessful........ HELP!!!!!!!
I have searched and found many articles but all have been unsuccessful. My ride is a 89 CRX with a 99 Civic TypeR motor using the ODB2 ECU.
The problem: wont start on her own unless you cover 90% of the throttle body with your hand. If you get it started using your hand it will idle realy ruff, like it is starving for gas. If you move the throttle a tiny bit it will stall. However, if you prime the motor it starts and idles perfectly. I even drove it around for 20 minutes with no problem. Even after it was warm i tried to start it but it would not start without being primed.
The new harness has no diagnostics port for ODB2 and the diagnostics port on the chassis is no longer working. i cant even get the engine light to blink. I manually checked the vacuum lines and most the sensors except for the TDC, cam or crank sensor.
any suggestion will be helpfull
Thanks

Why are you even putting your hand over the throttle body for starting purposes?

Seems you have a solution then, yeah??
What wiring harness are you using? Using a conversion harness too?

Im using my hand because it seems like it does not have enough fuel, hense if you cover it with your hand its like a choke........
opening my hood and taking off my intake to spray brake cleaner into the throttle body is not a resonable solution every time i need to start the car
basicaly, the engine harness utilizes the CRX wiring for proper length and connection for the chassis but all the plugs (I.E. sensors, injectors, connectors.....) that the motor needs are from the motor. And yes i am using an ODB2 - ODB0 conversion harness to adapt my ECU to the Chassis harness.

When you say 'prime', I read 'turn the ignition key on to let the fuel pump prime the system' - my fualt there.
Aside from just starting issues - She runs great once you do get it started? You say you had her running for 20 minutes with no problems, but still fails to start up while hot without shooting a little fluid into the intake.
Can you verify the wiring for the CEL and the service check connector wire (the one that gets grounded in order to blink the codes) just to see if you are getting codes?

I will check that ASAP. Between the Helms manuals and the car i should be abel to figure it out
Thanks
Thanks
As it turns out my CYP sensor is putting out a very weak signal. So now im looking for a ODB-2b distributor, any one have one..........
