Rode my first bike...
My cousin let me ride his motorcylce a few weeks ago, and man was it fun. I've been wanting to get a motorcylce for awhile now, but up until then I had only ridden on the back of one. He's got a Suzuki GSX-R1000, and a Suzuki V-Strom.
He let me ride his V-Strom in a huge parking lot.
The first time I tried to go I stalled it. lol I guess that is expected though considering I didn't know how the clutch was going to behave, nor did I know how much gas to give it. The bike was pretty easy to ride once I got a hold of stop/go, at least in a straight line. Shifting was a little hard to get a hang off. I rode it for 20 minutes, but I was getting more comfortable with it as time went on. Sometimes I had to look down at my foot to get it right.
Leaning made me nervous, and I really didn't lean much at all. lol It will take some serious getting used to once I get a sport bike to be leaning over. That and a lot of practice/patience. It felt like the bike was going to tip over and I hardly leaned over at all. I can't imagine sport bike lean.
Anyway, I just thought I would share that I rode one and loved it. I never went past 40mph, but the bike felt pretty quick.
Here's a picture of the bike I rode for the hell of it.

Hopefully, I can get the bike I want in another year or two.

Ain't that the truth! Learining is the most fun part of it. Register for a local MSF course and get your liscence. When you are ready, get a bike. If you liked the V-Strom, try an SV650S. It's got great looks (sport bike like) and handles great with good power. Great to learn on. The engine is very similar to the VSTROM.
its fun stuff isnt it.
congrats on riding your first bike. honestly it will take some time to get comfortable riding but when you do learn it will feel so GOOD
lol

Thanks! Actually, I am going to start with an '04 Honda CBR 600RR, in the blue or black color, I can't decide. I am going to take my time, a lot of time, to get used to the bike and feel comfortable before I go crazy with it. I've heard too many horror stories, plus I feel that I have the ability to control my speed addiction for the fear of none other than my own safety.

aint that the truth. i havent actually rode a bike either, so i can imagine that shifting would be kinda difficult at first.

Yeah, I know. That is NOT going to be me. I've been reading the motorcycle forum on here for awhile now, as well as 600rr.org, and I DEFEINITELY am going to take it easy and not ride like an idiot like I've seen in many posts. I have nothing to prove when I get it, I just want to get one b/c it is fun to ride. I was looking at getting a used Ninja 250, but I've been told by many that I would get bored with it quickly. Then I would have to worry about selling it and getting another bike, etc. I'm just going to start with the bike I want and take it easy. Thanks for the lookout though.
Also, no way I'm riding it without FULL gear. EVER.

Ya when you look outside and see 95 degree weather try telling yourself that you will always wear gear then. I rode with my leather jacket and gloves yesterday and it was only 85 and it felt like i was peeling the jacket off after i was done.

lol. I didn't mean that literally. I plan to always ride safe on the street. Especially after doing autocross and a few HPDE's. I know to keep the fast/scary stuff at the track where it's more controlled than on the street.
Either way, nothing I can say on this board is going to make people believe I am just ready for a 600RR. I just need to get one, ride one for awhile and see how it goes.

I'd rather bitch about sweating than have to get a skin graph.
