when i let go of the clutch in neutral there's a knockin sound...i tink it's coming from the engine..my buddy said it might be the carbs..so i ended up buyin some carb cleaner that you add to your fuel..nd it still is knocking..anybody know wut it is..oh my bike is a 97 cbr900rr...

Don't listen to your buddy. carbs don't knock. I'm not too familiar with that bike, but maybe check the cam chain tentioner if it has one, or it may be clutch chatter.

 

If it was the cct you'd hear it when you rode near a car and stuff too. Not quite sure what yer problem is.

Any clutch work recently?

Carb prolly woulda been tha last thing on my list to check.

Without more info, my guess would be clutch basket or cam chain related (could even be internal motor prob but who knows).

 

it's my first bike....nd i have no clue bout the clutch work or anything....cuz i just got it two months ago...it's a cbr900rr 97...it has about 21000km....could it be my valves...nd another question...when does your guy's radiator fan kick in...cuz i haven't seen my fan at work yet...

 

21km's is nuthin for that bike if it was well maintained.

It would be a good idea to have a full service (oil and filter, plugs, valve adjust, carb synch,etc) done after the noise has been diagnosed by a professional.

You have checked the oil level - right?
