Oil burn again
So i know that there are others out there having problems with 5gens burning lots of oil. Mine is extra special and burns something like 1 quart / 600ish miles. My mechanic says it is the oil rings on the piston that have gone bad due to a previous owner abusing it. My question to you all is, is the burning oil hurting my engine at all? Is it just a case of dealing with it and adding oil? Or is my engine slowly dying? Any other advice on the oil burning topic would also be great if you have any.

if your compression is fine then it may not be your rings, have you done a compression test?

The compression checks out fine across all 4. It runs good with plenty of power. I am just debating if I should keep the car or sell it, so I just want to figure out if the oil burn is simply a case of consuming oil, or if it is going to effect the life of my engine.
one thing most people never check when they burn oil is the pcv valve. its not a common cause and chances are this wont help you at all but its definately worth checking since its so easy to check (pull it off and shake it, if it rattles its good, if it doesn't then get a new one) they're cheap little parts that will make you burn a lot of oil if they dont work
