Ministock Prelude help
I race an 87 Honda Prelude, with the dual carbed 1.8 L engine at the local circle tracks. One track is 1/3 mile, the other is a 1/2 mile, both are paved, banked ovals.
Of course the age old question is, how do I get more power? The rules for both tracks require the car remains stock. No dual over head cams, no 16 valve engines, and no turbos. I know the most obvious answer is to switch to the 2.0L fuel injected motor. Those are the ones that are beating me after all, and I probably will as soon as the budget allows.
But until then, help me get the most out of my 1.8. I'm not opposed to "bending" the rules, but it can't be obvious. The carbs have been rejetted, and the exaust manifold has been hollowed out to make it breath easier. It also has a 2 inch exaust all the way back, with a 2 inch Cherry Bomb because we have to run "some sort of muffler".
What about other cams? Will the 2.0L cam bolt in my car? Will it make a difference?
What about the 2.0L head? Will it bolt on? Again, will it help?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks.
