spring bolts for exhaust?
hey guys,
i have a really bad rattle underneath the car which I believe is coming from my exhaust setup.. how many different spring bolts should there be underneath? just a set for the exhaust to the cat right? or how about the cat to the rest of the piping?
Pics below go from the rear of the car toward the front:
These are pictures of the exhuast connected to the piping (pics taken from both sides of the car). Does the spring bolts go here too?:

And this is further down the piping:

and even further from the piping to the cat:

(sorry this is a bit hard to see, but there are spring bolts connected there)

you might have burned up the catalyst in the cat. undo it from the downpipe and shake it. also look into the cat with a flashlight. sometimes you can see the melted catalyst.

depends on model. i have seen quite a few hondas that run the spring bolt setup for the muffler as well so the any flex that accurs in the midpipe doesn't cause that flange to flex and become weakened.
go to hondaautomotiveparts.com and look at the exhaust schematic for your specific car and see where the spring bolts are actually used.

holy moly... yeah lke Apex mentioned, there is only a set of spring bolts only for the cat and the downpipe/header on MY car at least. (sorry incorrect naming convention in my first post)
the cat istelf is actually semi-new... but when I get a chance I'll definitely take it out and try to shake it (and anything else that may appear loose).
i'll take a lok at the schematics, but i remember trying to hit up majestic honda only to find an incorrect schematic to the transmission instead of the exhaust setup.
kudos and karma, thanks bubs.
