When i first start my car and engine is still cool
when i rev it the tach needle jumps althe way up to 6000 rpm
when i drive it and floor it it kicks all the way up to 8000 rpm
but when engine has been running it works fine.

 

You may have a bad igniter in your distributor.

 

Check the plugs/connection in the distributor as well. They work themselves loose sometimes and move around as the car warms up.

 

i heard thats a sign of your distributor getting ready to take a ****.
