clutch makes sound
okay... for a long while i've had my civic stock and everything was great...
just recently i bought new wheels and tires and bunch of other things...
all i did the first time around was put the wheels and tires on my car and the 99-00 style taillights...
thats when i noticed this problem...
every once in awhile starting from a stop ill hear the clutch make a soft noise...
it doesnt happen all the time and it mostly happens only when starting out on an upward incline...
the wheels and tires added a lot more weight so i'm thinking maybe the stock clutch cant really handle the extra weight at the wheels...
the clutch doesnt slip or anything... it just makes that sound when starting out sometimes
any ideas or suggestions?
a complete list of upgrades and pics are at http://www.cardomain.com/id/inexistent
everything is installed except the coilover springs, shocks&struts, camber kit, and exhaust... and i first noticed the problem with the wheels and tires... all the other parts were added afterwards...
thanks

kinda hard to describe... its like a faint raspy sound... maybe metal against metal... that scraping sound... but very light... and it only happens sometimes... mostly when starting out uphill... on flat ground it almost never makes that sound...
you might just need some grease between where the slave cylinder actuator touches the throwout fork (I dont believe thats the technical term but someone could probably help out with that.)
Probably is what's known as 'clutch chatter'. Mine is doing it right now too. It will start off faint and only up hill, but will soon get a little louder and happen more continuously. This also usually makes a slight vibration during engagement when starting from a stop, that will shake the car a little. Hope this helps you out.
Just to let you know, Monicle, it's called the 'release fork'.

Well I can tell you right now the wheels and tires have NOTHING to do with the clutch sound.
Does it sound like a grind? Like gears trying to mesh but can't really do it quietly?

yup mine only chatters once in awhile, it makes a metal against metal contact and doesn't go into reverse at all unless i put it back to neutral n engage into reverse again
