Buffing info plz!! bodywork/detailers plz read
Hi!
Ok so my hatch has really nice paint..
its original gray,
but being original, of course it has blemishes.
Its basically at the point where its so nice, I want to fix it and make it as mint as I can.
But it is a 92 so I am worried about damaging it.
I'd like to know about the buffing process.
I have read some good things about it,
how a old'n faded car will come out looking brand new.
and basically what they are doing is taking off a tiny layer of clear off the top,
exposing the new layer underneath?
does that sound right?
But then there is also the process of buffing in polishing/waxing or swirl remover type compounds.. which make it look great, but its only a temporary fix, and just hides/fills in the blemish's.
this is not what I want(of course i'll put a protective coat of whatever product I find to be right when the time comes, after the buffing).
I am worried however about going somewhere and them taking off too much..
or making it worse somehow,
paranoid I know, but plz, I would just really appreciate it if someone in the know about this sort of thing would fill me in with as much info as they deem neccessary!
thanks!
(oh i'm in the bay area also, if anyone knows of a detailing guru in the area that I should see, feel free to lmk, or anyone I should avoid).
THANKS!

thats a great link,
i'm learning now!
seems as if the term buffing is too general..
I think i'm in need of a clayin, nice polish, then sealant...
leanin towards doing it myself now too
