87 1.5 motor same as 88 1.5?

Default 87 1.5 motor same as 88 1.5?

i got a chance to get a 1.5 from and 1987 civic and was wondering if i can put it in my 1988 dx? dont care if it slower cuz my motor is in real bad shape.

Simple answer is no. You can make any motor work in any car w/ enough time and $$, but its easier and cheaper to find something that bolts in than trying to make that motor work.

'87 and older SOHC engines are completely different from '88 and newer SOHC engines.
