Default Tranmission Swap - Need HELP!

Okay, here is the deal. I have a 97' Civic HB CX. My tranmission just went in it and I'm looking to get it either replaced or rebuilt. Come to find out... rebuilt transmissions are unbelieveably unaffordable and sketchy. So... Does anyone know what model tranmissions from other Honda Engines would match a D16Y7? Or would be able to attach to the motor? Well, whatever engine I actually have in a 97' Civic HB CX 1.6 non vtec SOHC (laugh it up... broke college student) 5 Speed Manual. I would apprecaite some feedback either here or via email. Thanks for your time!

I actually have one sitting in my garage right now from an auto to manual swap. If you need an auto give me an offer daveyo10@yahoo.com. It has 95k on it but no slips. But to answer your question, a trans from the d16y8 or the d16y7 would fit for sure, but I cannot be sure about the d15 or z6 tranny because I have never done one.

Any 92-00 D series 5spd manual tranny will bolt on.

The Z6, the Y8, or the JDM D15B trannies will all be your best bet as far as short gearing goes, but as far as just something to get around on, you should be able to find a tranny for 100-150 bucks pretty easily.

You are the man! Thanks a million. Know any good spots on the east coast that I might be able to get one?

I got mine off of ebay. Its kind of a hit or miss thing but for 100 bucks for a trans with 60k on it, you cant beat that.
